MCU decide to extend online remote teaching through the end of this semester
The MCU Epidemic Prevention Emergency Response Team has come to the resolution to extend online remote teaching through the end of this semester (June 27th). On-site final examinations and comprehensive examinations are cancelled and learning outcome evaluation will be conducted through flexible assessment, projects, MOODLE tests, submission of assignments, and/or adjusting semester grade percentages. Faculty members are to please submit the final semester grades according to the Academic Affairs Notice. Online remote teaching is considered as formal courses. In principle, no make-up or remedial classes shall be offered during this summer vacation.
2020-21 AY 2nd Semester Online Course Initial Course Begins
2020-21 AY 2nd semester online course initial selection starts at 12:30 AM today (Dec. 14), and will be available in different periods depending on students’ class year. The results of cloud course selection will be posted at 10 am of the online course selection day. Based on those results, students may decide whether or not to enter the course selection system to adjust the courses. Adding and dropping of courses is available during the period of initial selection. The initial selection will open for all students from 12:30 on Dec. 28 to 16:00 on Dec. 30, and the results of initial selection will be posted on Jan. 11, 2021.
20 DAE Students Earn MICE Professional Certification
Twenty-one Applied English Department (DAE) students participated in the examination for MICE Professional Certification this October, and 20 of them passed the examination, for a 95.24% passing rate this year. This certification covers meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) for industries.
Midterm Examinations Next Week! Please Wear A Face Mask!
Time flies! Half a semester has nearly passed and 1st-year students are going to face their first university midterm examinations next week: Nov. 9 to 13, 2020. The traditional MCU plum-blossom examination seating arrangement will be implemented; in line with the new life of epidemic containment, everyone is required to please wear a face mask for all the examinations.
MCU foreign teacher and alumnus recognized by New Taipei City Government for bilingual collaborative teaching contributions
Assistant professor in MCU’s International College (IC), Dr. Timothy McBush Hiele, and a MCU IMBA alumnus, Brandon Parker Davis, were recognized by the New Taipei City Government for their significant contributions to bilingual resource-sharing and collaborative development.
New Taipei City Government has established technical and vocational cross-discipline alliances in collaboration with 44 colleges and universities to assist in collaborative development of curriculum, faculty, equipment, industry-university cooperation and resource-sharing. Dr. Hiele, currently on the faculty of the Applied Computing and Information Management Program in IC, and Mr. Davis were recognized for their outstanding contributions in the New Taipei City Government’s “Bilingual Collaborative Teaching Program.” At the October 16 press conference, Hiele and Davis received awards from New Taipei City Government Mayor Hou You-yi.
Regarding the last exams for graduating students who have been studying at MCU for 4 years, to lower the risk of cluster infection, the evaluation method for graduation exams is changed to in-class assessment set by the respective faculty members, so examinations will be administered in the original classes during the original class hours due to the pandemic spread of COVID-19 around the world. Following the adjustment of course schedule, the graduation examinations will be held from May 20 to May 26, 2020. Graduating students need to be aware of the adjustment and participate in exams on time.
Summer session course schedules and course selection notice were posted online on May 4, 2020; students can check course details online. Priority to select courses one day in advance will be given to students in extended study period, graduating class students, and fourth-year students of Architecture Department. Please take note of the course selection period and tuition payment period.
Mid-term Course-reduction Application Period May 11-15
Mid-term exam results are gradually being posted. For those students who aren’t satisfied with their exam results, Academic Affairs Division provides Mid-term Course-reduction Application so that students might have a chance to consider lightening their course load. The application period is open from 9 AM on May 11 to 4 PM on May 15.
